How do cars get stuck on train tracks so often?

cars
Mrs.10/18/08 asked:

In my city, there have been 3 reports of people almost getting hit by trains with their cars on the tracks lately. Also, My fiance’s best friend’s ENTIRE family was killed in this manner several years ago.

I guess I just have a hard time understanding how it happens - I mean, why wouldn’t they be able to just move their car? Or get out of the car? Is there some common denominator as to why it happens when it comes to accidents of this nature?

Alot of people get so involved and trying to start a car back up that they forget that they could get out. This usually happens when people don’t listen and stop on the tracks or really close. You see this when you come a red light close to a train track, half of the people are pulled up on the tracks. When it’s rush hour and this happens where are you goign to go?
